The Reality

The law isn't
broken.
Access is.

The Family Law Act 1975 is designed to be fair. But the system around it isn't built for ordinary people. It rewards those who can afford to fight and quietly punishes everyone else.

"People sign unfair settlements out of exhaustion. Parents lose contact with their children because they couldn't afford to fight. Assets built over decades disappear into legal fees."

Why we exist
$0/hr
Average family lawyer hourly rate and that's the starting line, not the finish.
$0k
Per party in contested matters. Multiply by two. A house deposit. A child's education. Gone.
0mo
Average time for a contested family law matter, twelve months of stress, uncertainty, and legal bills.
0%
Of matters settle before trial. Most disputes never needed to escalate. They escalated because nobody had the tools.

Founder
Why this exists

I built this because I needed it, and it didn't exist.

I went through it. The 3am Google searches. The legal bills that arrived faster than the advice. The feeling that you're either too proud, too angry, or too exhausted to think clearly, and someone is always charging you by the hour while you try.

The Family Law Act doesn't fail people. The system around it does. Divorce Decoded exists to close that gap.

I know the feeling of being betrayed, in a marriage, and in a system that felt designed to exhaust you into submission. After navigating my own high-conflict separation, defined by false claims and hidden assets, I built the resource I wished I'd had.

Divorce Decoded exists for everyone going through this, regardless of gender, income, or how complex their situation feels. The law is navigable. Your rights are real. You just need the right tools to understand them.

While this platform provides the tactical and legal intelligence you need, I have learned that the mental battle is just as critical.

In their own words

Built for real Australians.

"

I'd spent $4,000 on a lawyer just to understand my own situation. Divorce Decoded gave me clearer answers in one evening, and then I knew exactly what to ask the lawyer for. It paid for itself in one session.

Common questions

Answers before you ask.

Honest answers about what this is, and isn't.

No. Divorce Decoded provides general legal information grounded in Australian family law, specifically the Family Law Act 1975. We are not a law firm and we don't provide legal advice for your specific situation. We always encourage you to obtain independent legal advice from a qualified Australian family lawyer for decisions about your matter.
Yes. The free tier includes MindSpace (unlimited emotional support), 10 Legal Advisor questions per day, access to Support Circles and the Lounge, the separation roadmap, and crisis resources. For most straightforward separations, the free tier is genuinely enough. Pro and Bulldog tiers add specialist tools for more complex matters.
Your safety comes first, always. Every user completes family violence screening during onboarding. If concerns are flagged, our conflict-detection system is permanently disabled for your account, meaning your former partner can never discover you're using the platform. You'll be connected with 1800RESPECT and specialist state services. You can continue to use all other platform features safely.
That's exactly who we built this for. The free tier is permanent, not a trial. For paid features, we have a verified hardship tier for concession and Centrelink card holders at significantly reduced rates. Mediation services operate on a sliding scale. No one is turned away because of money.
All data is stored in Australia (Supabase Sydney region) and encrypted at rest. Row-level security means only you can access your information. Your former partner cannot see anything you've done on the platform unless you both explicitly opt in to mediation. Support circle pseudonymity is permanent and separate from any other platform identity.
For most matters, you'll get the best outcome with at least one consultation with a family lawyer, and we'll help you arrive prepared so you're not paying $600/hour to be educated from scratch. For consent orders, we always recommend independent legal review before filing. For straightforward separations where both parties agree, you may be able to do most of it yourself. We help you know which situation you're in.
